THE ULTIMATE RARITY

SINGLE HARVEST TAWNY PORT

True rarity is not proclaimed; it is recognised. APICIVS 1975 finds those who value time, perfection, and all that transcends the ordinary.

Bottled on its jubilee, this Colheita Port stands as a testament to time, mastery, and the unyielding quest for perfection. Each bottle captures a unique, unrepeatable moment, reserved for those who understand that some experiences are beyond acquisition – they are destined.

Some creations defy explanation. They must be experienced. Some choices are beyond deliberation. They impose themselves.

GRAPE VARIETIES: Due to the viticultural practices of the time, it is impossible to accurately identify all the grape varieties present in this Port wine. Back then, field blends were the norm — vineyards were often planted with numerous varieties side by side, sometimes even mixing white grapes among predominantly red varieties — and many indigenous varieties that remain unclassified or yet to be identified. Nevertheless, available records and empirical knowledge allow for the following composition to be suggested: the first five varieties account for over 60% of the blend, while the following six together represent at least 15% — Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Francesa (Touriga Franca), Touriga Nacional, Bastardo, Donzelinho Tinto, Malvasia Preta, Mourisco Tinto (Marufo), Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca, among others.

OENOLOGY: Exclusive blend of 556 litres, carefully selected from 600-litre casks, preserved since 1975 in the cellars of an old Port house. Bottled unfiltered in May 2025.

TASTING NOTES

Single Harvest Tawny Port

APICIVS 1975

Single Harvest Tawny Port

THE ULTIMATE RARITY

A deep mahogany hue reveals delicate red glints and a soft greenish rim, bearing witness to half a century of patient ageing.

The nose opens with a striking ethereal lift of fine varnish, an extraordinary expression of ethyl acetate, soon embraced by sublime, delicate vanillas. An intense balsamic liquorice note follows, entwined with bittersweet honey and the evocative scent of freshly cured tobacco leaves. Dark, sumptuous raisins unfold, alongside fleeting whispers of caramelised figs. As the bouquet deepens, a rich crème brûlée emerges, lifting again the elegant vanilla tones, shaded by the subtle warmth of sandalwood. Honeysuckle-like floral nuances, bittersweet and ethereal, and a gentle hint of butterscotch complete the aromatic profile.

On the palate, it is unctuous and vibrant, with a striking acidity that brings clarity and lift.

The finish is lush and lingering, enveloping the senses with soft coatings of vanilla, honey, and the delicate memory of crystallised white fruits.
